Save Me is a dramatic, psychological, school-life webtoon released in 2017 in Lezhin. Hyeongoh is a disabled student who goes through brutal bullying every single day until someone—Namsoo—comes in to put an end to it.
This isn’t for the faint of heart since it’s very graphic and the amount of bullying—especially to a disabled person—is horrifying. I had to stop for long periods of time while reading this because of it. Don’t read this if you have been through bullying because this is very triggering (and if you aren’t bullied, this can still be rather disturbing—though not as much as Killing Stalking.) The psychotic levels that Namsoo has are through the roof and you can’t help but feel afraid whenever he shows up. He is very clingy and protective when it comes to Hyeongoh though. Meanwhile, Hyeongoh had to bear with all this bullying while no one other than Namsoo would come to help him—which really bothered me since it just makes you hate almost all of the students (minus his crush) because they wouldn’t even try to help him out and speak up to his bullies. Of course, like many stories like this, the student council president is the worst of the bullies because of how hypocritical he is throughout the plot. He was the “model student” while speaking to the main bullies privately.
Despite the levels of how disturbing the webtoon is, you can’t help but continue reading it. The one thing that seemed a bit rushed with the ending—especially since they never really show you how Hyeongoh finds out the truth—despite the author showing their back stories is how/why Hyoengoh and Namsoo are the way they are.
With that being said, I give “Save Me” 4 paws out of five. 🐾🐾🐾🐾 If you’re interested in reading disturbing stories, this is the one for you.
