Anime Characters That Made an Impact (part 3):
Q: If you had to choose 2 characters that made the greatest impact on you or the two most memorable anime character who would you pick and why.
Sunako Nakahara— The Wall Flower :
As biased as this may seem—especially since she’s from one of my favorite anime of all time— I chose Sunako because she made me realize that I needed to work hard in how I viewed myself. Many people (myself included) would have issues with their own self-image. Growing up, I would think of myself as Sunako—a girl who would think of herself as ugly and try different kinds of mechanisms to not have to worry about their looks. Over time, she started to learn more about appearances and how she just needs to love herself more as a person. If I’m not mistaken, she was around 15 both in the manga and in the anime— basically the time usually girls would worry more about their looks. To be honest, I watched and re-watched this anime for years on end and it wasn’t until my first or second year of college that Sunako made me realize that I needed to start working on myself. If it weren’t for her, I probably would’ve kept being in a never-ending spiral of negative thoughts regarding my own self-image.

Misaki Takahashi- Junjou Romantica:
As weird as it may seem, Misaki from Junjou Romantica truly was influential in my life. If it weren’t for him, I probably would’ve been miserable studying a degree in biology (not to throw shade to biology majors. They’re amazing. You guys rock) instead of pursuing my dream of becoming a writer/ author. I didn’t even know you could study literature and then have an actual career with a degree in literature. I actually got inspired to apply for literature at the last second when applying for college (not exactly a good idea but still worked). Not only that, but he also had worked hard in pursuing his dreams —even when everyone thought that he wouldn’t. Misaki definitely taught me to keep on trying even when other people believe you wouldn’t be able to do it. Thanks to him, I enjoy what I do on a daily basis. I hope you guys find what you enjoy! 🐾
